About OPHP

Oklahoma Pharmacists Helping Pharmacists (OPHP) is a not for profit volunteer organization of pharmacists and college of pharmacy faculty. We are dedicated to identification, intervention and retention of chemically dependent or recovering pharmacists and student pharmacists. OPHP will observe confidentiality in all dealings.

Goals and Objectives

The goals and objectives of OPHP are to eliminate alcohol and drug abuse among pharmacists and student pharmacists through education about chemical dependency as a disease.

educational goals will be addressed through joint sponsorship of programs with the pharmacy organization, presentation of the poster at the stat and national level, and the development of a speaker’s bureau including pharmacists in recovery.

In addition to increasing the knowledge of health care administration and human resource personnel regarding chemical dependency as a disease, OPHP will work to assure consistent response to, and retention of, chemically dependent pharmacists and student pharmacists through the development of a step-by-step guide for the intervention to be used by pharmacy directors and/or administrators.

OPHP will also work to serve in a consultative/advisory capacity for the State Boards of Pharmacy on issues related to recovery practice.

Our Primary Objective

Our primary objective is treatment and recovery. Decisions and actions by the recovering pharmacist or student pharmacist are not reported to the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy (OSBP) or Academic Dean through cooperatively working with OPHP. In the event of a prolonged relapse, our contract with the pharmacist or student pharmacist is terminated and we are mandated to notify the OSBP or Academic Dean.

OPHP will observe confidentially in all dealings. There will be no barriers to full participation in the organizations on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin or disability.
